1973 $1 "September 11th" Note

Many people will remember the tragic events of September 11, 2001. On this fateful day, two hijacked passenger jets loaded with travellers and fuel crashed into the World Trade Center twin towers in Manhatten, New York, U.S.A. These crashes caused the towers to completely collapse killing thousands of people including many brave firefighters, police and paramedics. Another hijacked airplane crashed into the Pentagon in Washington D.C. and a 4th crashed in a field in Pennsylvania, but was suspected to be heading towards the U.S. White House. Thousands of innocent people died that day, mostly in New York, as a result of these terrorist activities.

This note is a 2-digit radar note (See the Special Numbers section) but it also has a significance in that the serial number of NY 2211122 invokes a reminder of the date September 11, 2001 and the events that occurred in New York City on that day.
