1954 Modified $5 Note - Inverted Signatures Error

The signatures on all banknotes produced before 1967 were applied to the notes in a separate stage of the printing process. As with all other stages, things can go wrong. Here, the sheet was rotated between stages, leaving the signatures running along the top edge of the banknote.

Other sorts of errors can result in the signatures being oriented incorrectly, appearing on the back of the banknote, or not at all.
